A few days have now passed since our return from Scotland, and with the memories of our NC500 challenge at last winning through against the muscle-aches of our exertions, I would like to pass on the thanks of the Ride & Stride team to everyone who has supported our efforts over the last couple of weeks. In particular thank you all sincerely for following my Blog and for backing our three charities: Cancer Research UK, Mind and Parkinson’s UK. Raising awareness of these organisations and the causes that they support has been as much a fundamental objective of our Ride & Stride venture as the fundraising itself.
Notwithstanding this, the work of the charities could not happen without funds. The Ride & Stride team are pleased to confirm that the donations we received from 269 separate donors exceeded even our revised target of £3,000 per charity – together we raised £10,625, and including Gift Aid a massive £12,782! Thank you all!
The JustGiving page is still open, and for anyone interested this can be accessed on the following link:
Just to round things off I have put together a summary of the Ride & Stride team’s total mileages, ascents and activity hours as we made our way around northern Scotland on our NC500 journey. Owing to the vagaries of formatting, the table is best shown as two images:

The statistics have turned out very close to those in our intended itinerary that predicted totals of 562 miles and 12,783 metres of ascent, with 80 activity hours. I guess that this represents something of a triumph for planning, as well as for execution!
I would like to pass on my personal thanks to all of the Ride & Stride team for their ideas and for all of their efforts in the preparation of the venture, as well as for their hard work during our exertions around northern Scotland – and above all for the laughs and for the memories. A job well done, Team – thank you all!

And finally – as the concluding heading for my Ride & Stride Blog it seems appropriate to give the last word to Gerry Rafferty, borrowing the title ‘Bring It All Home’ from one of his compositions off the 1980 album ‘Snakes and Ladders’. All the music choices, and the corresponding playlist that I have put together, have certainly helped me on our arduous journey around northern Scotland.
I hope to resume writing this Blog around some exciting future venture. Until then please take care and enjoy life’s journey!
