Looks Like We Made It

In the radio studio of MIX92.6 yesterday morning

My apologies for disturbing your Saturday evening, particularly as I had promised to leave you alone for a while. But I just had to send a final Blog to thank everyone again who supported my LETJOG E2W challenge – and to say that we have just passed the £2,500 target figure of donations to Parkinson’s UK on my JustGiving page, with donations from an amazing 79 sponsors!! In actual fact, once the associated Gift Aid amounts have been added to the £2,720 that has now been contributed then the total that we have raised jointly comes to a figure of just over £3,300! These funds will enable the charity to further their medical research into the condition by employing a medical researcher for a month, so I like to think that through everyone’s joint efforts and generosity we have made a real difference. Thank you all so much!

Ready for action . . .

In other news, I was asked yesterday to attend the studios of MIX92.6 Radio in St Albans, for an interview on their morning show with Steve Simpson. We spoke on my E2W walk for a few minutes just after 11.00 am, and then again after 11.30 am on my fundraising for Parkinson’s UK: anyone interested can access a recording of our chat on the MIX92.6 website – I believe the programme is available there for a week. The station broadcasts to south Hertfordshire and has a following of 10,000 listeners, so hopefully the exposure will have helped to raise awareness of the work of Parkinson’s UK.

. . . and with DJ Steve Simpson yesterday morning

I did not anticipate signing off with a Barry Manilow song title as my Blog heading, but the words ‘Looks Like We Made It’, his US hit from 1977, seem quite apt. When undertaking a challenge such as my LETJOG E2W walk there could be many outcomes, so the fact that I have completed the walk and returned in one piece, and that we have all achieved the fundraising target too, is quite a happy achievement. Thank you all again, and I look forward to getting in touch with you all once more through this Blog in due course.
